After rupturing my ACL, I chose a non-surgical rehabilitation path and eventually returned to basketball.

But this isn’t really a story about knee injuries. It’s about the reactions people had to that decision, and what concern, scepticism and curiosity might reveal about the beliefs we hold about ourselves and the world.
